FAMILY MATTERS

Author and essayist OG Mandino once said that “I am convinced that the greatest legacy we can leave our children is happy memories.” This is the energy we are trying to keep here at BeWorld. Mandino seems right, perhaps there is nothing better to leave our children with other than memorable experiences. This is something we are trying to ensure here at BeWorld by proffering family-friendly hotels and resorts.

That being said, here are 3 of our most family-oriented destinations that are both luxurious and fun for kids!

1. Soneva – Located on a remote island in the Maldives, Soneva Fushi is one of the best resorts for travellers with children. Within the resort, there is a state-of-the-art “children’s den”. This “den” is the largest children’s zone in the Maldives and has won accolades. There are many different rooms with an assortment of different activities. There is also a chocolate factory/parlour on the island that the kids are sure to enjoy. From cooking classes to a Lego room, children will call this resort paradise.

Adventure of the Corbin:  A special 4-day course designed for kids/teenagers who are staying at Soneva Fushi. This adventure centres around a shipwrecking that happened near where Soneva Fushi is located in the 17th Century. During this course, kids and teenagers get to learn about how stranded individuals survived on the island and even get to snorkel at the site of the shipwreck.

Flying Sauces:  A way in which families can experience a luxurious dining experience among the treetops. As a means of transportation to this fine-dining experience, guests are invited to zipline. Yes, you read correctly… zipline.  This is one way in which Soneva is going above and beyond to curate one-of-a-kind, family-oriented experiences for its guests.  It is also fun for kids and teens of all ages!

2. NIHI Sumba–  Being voted as one of the best hotels by Travel + Leisure magazine, NIHI Sumba is making big strides when it comes to family-friendly tourism. One of NIHI’s goals is to make memories for children and families. They do this by offering activities such as children’s horseback riding lessons, a children’s spa experience and even a chocolate-making class specially designed for kids. The resort also offers a kids club service to parents who would like to take advantage of it.

Travelling is usually thought of as a “family matter”. For instance, when grandfathers, dads and kids are all travelling together, fun and exciting adventures are being experienced by people from three different generations.  NIHI makes ensures that generations of families feel comfortable and entertained at their resort by providing a number of family-targeted activities and experiences.

3. Cape Weligama – Being located on the coast of Sri Lanka, Cape Weligama hosts a range of activities that can be enjoyed by children of all ages. One notable activity for kids is called ‘junior chef’ in which kids take part in an immersive culinary experience designed just for them. There is also a wooden mask-making activity in which children from 6-12 years old carve and paint their own wooden masks, allowing children to experience the native Sri Lankan culture while also getting crafty.
